Les comics STAR WARS passent de Dark Horse à Marvel
Étonnant, non ?
Voilà une nouvelle qui n’étonnera personne : un communiqué de presse vient d’annoncer que désormais, les comics STAR WARS seront publiés exclusivement par Marvel. La Maison des Idées et Lucasfilm appartenant tous les deux à Disney, cette annonce est tout ce qu’il y a de plus logique, et met de nouveau en exergue la célèbre stratégie multiplateformes de Mickey, qui développe et achète des franchises pour pouvoir les décliner au cinéma, à la télé, en jeux vidéo, en BD etc.
Toutefois, certains pourront arguer qu’il s’agit là d’un retour aux sources. Car si les BD inspirées de STAR WARS sont publiées par Dark Horse depuis 1991, elles le furent par Marvel entre 1977 et 1991. Notons que dans le communiqué de presse officiel, délivré par Disney et Lucasfilm Publishing, il est annoncé que les comics que Marvel publiera dès 2015 se concentreront sur « les aventures cosmiques de Han, Luke, Leia et Chewbacca ». Evidemment, on ne sait pas trop si cela donne la moindre indication sur le contenu d’EPISODE VII, dont on ne connaît toujours pas le pitch.
De son côté, Mike Richardson, le fondateur de Dark Horse Comics, a publié son propre communiqué, déclarant : « Dark Horse a révolutionné le traitement des comics basés sur des films. (…) C’est ironique que cette annonce survienne alors que Dark Horse vient de connaître la meilleure année de son histoire. (…) 2014 aura beau être la dernière année où nous nous occupons des comics STAR WARS, nous comptons bien faire qu’elle soit mémorable. Nous savons que les fans de la franchise n’en attendent pas moins. La Force est toujours avec nous. » En voilà un qui a la défaite noble et offensive.

The Walt Disney Company’s Lucasfilm Ltd. and Marvel Entertainment are joining forces to bring new Star Wars adventures to readers across the galaxy, with Marvel granted exclusive rights to create and publish Star Wars comics and graphic novels beginning in 2015.
The agreement marks a homecoming for the Star Wars comic books. Marvel Comics published the first Star Wars comic book, STAR WARS #1, in March 1977, which went on to sell more than 1 million copies. Marvel Comics published its STAR WARS series for nine years. In 1991, Dark Horse Comics took over the license, publishing fan-favorite titles like Dark Empire and Star Wars: Legacy. Last year, Dark Horse released The Star Wars #1, an adaptation of George Lucas’ original rough-draft screenplay for the film, garnering rave reviews and national media attention and ranking among the top-selling Star Wars comics of all time.
“Dark Horse Comics published exceptional Star Wars comics for over 20 years, and we will always be grateful for their enormous contributions to the mythos, and the terrific partnership that we had,” said Carol Roeder, director of Lucasfilm franchise publishing, Disney Publishing Worldwide. “In 2015, the cosmic adventures of Luke, Han, Leia and Chewbacca will make the lightspeed jump back to Marvel, to begin a new age of adventures within the Star Wars universe.
